The
department of Honors in Florida State University is planned to help the talented
students into scholars, leaders in community and innovators in profession by encouraging
them to take advantages of facilities available at Florida State University. As
an honors student of Florida State University you are great contributor of local
state, national and global communities. At FSU, undergraduates have a wide range
of opportunities to engage in world-class research and creative activity because
of the university's success as a major research institution. In addition, the
university is deeply involved in service to the community, state, nation and world.
FSU undergraduates gain real-world work experience through involvement in cutting-edge
projects to improve the world around them. In the FSU Honors Program, research,
creative activity and service will be an integral part of the program-not just
an afterthought. Florida
State University offers about eighty honors courses for each academic year. Among
them fifteen are "Honors seminars". After doing these courses, you must do the
project on Research / Creative Activity / Community Service. The faculty members
provide the sponsorship and mentoring. The exemplary project works are described

Competency | The
Honors in the major program, which provides undergraduates an advanced way to
research or creative activity, that prepares students for the discipline of graduate
study. After Completion of an Honors Thesis as part of the Honors in the Major
Program leads to the distinction of graduation "with Honors" being designated
on the official transcript. The student's thesis being digitally archived in Strozier
Library's D-Scholarship Repository. While Honors in the Major can be an excellent
experience for an Honors Program student, it also provides an opportunity for
outstanding students transferring to FSU from two-year colleges. The
office of National Fellowships provides all information about 50 national fellowships
that offer outstanding academic and intellectual opportunities for undergraduate
students. The office also provides counseling throughout the application process
and mentors students who are interested in maximizing their undergraduate experience
at Florida State.
